For over 50 years, MYS has established itself as one of the pre-eminent music education programs in the country. It is comprised of three full orchestras, a string orchestra, and a wind orchestra whose 300+ musicians range from early/intermediate-level to college/conservatory-level musicians.

  • Approximately 300 students participate in MYS orchestras annually. MYS students represent the top instrumentalists from over 90 elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the Twin Cities and as far away as Northfield, Hudson, and Cambridge.

  • 2,000–3,000 concertgoers, including families, music teachers, and patrons attend MYS concerts each season featuring professional-level orchestral repertoire at major concert venues in the Twin Cities.
