New Philharmonic Conductor!

MYS is thrilled to welcome Kelly DeMorett, Director of Orchestras at East Ridge High School, as the next conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra!

"In searching for a new director for the Philharmonic Orchestra, we wanted to choose a leader with a passion for orchestral music and a role model for our students for years to come -- and we found that in spades with Kelly DeMorett. She's an accomplished professional wind player (oboe) and a string player (violin/viola) in addition to being a first-rate conductor. Through the inclusion of Kelly DeMorett on our staff, MYS continues its tradition of excellence in musicality and education."

- Mark Mandarano, Artistic Director

Kelly comes to MYS with over 20 years of experience teaching music to students of all ages and abilities. An accomplished professional musician, as well as a teacher in a private studio, Kelly shares her passion generously with young people in not only music, but also in figure skating.

When working with young musicians, Kelly’s goal is always to continue building technique and knowledge, and to foster a life-long love and appreciation for music.

"As a public school music educator and studio instructor, I have a great appreciation and respect for the Minnesota Youth Symphony Orchestras and am honored to become a part of this esteemed organization.”

-Kelly DeMorett

Kelly will be sitting in with the artistic team during many of this summer’s auditions and looks forward to making music with the Philharmonic Orchestra starting this September.

Please join us in welcoming Kelly DeMorett to MYS!
