Position: MYS Events intern

Description: The Minnesota Youth Symphonies is seeking an intern to assist the Director of Development and Marketing in coordinating events during the 2008-09 concert season. Planned events include a black-tie gala (March 7, 2009), donor receptions and parties, and concert-related activities. Duties include event planning and logistics, processing invitations and guest lists, event registration, auction coordination, and other event management responsibilities as needed.

MYS will provide documentation of intern performance for class credit, if applicable. Applicants should have an interest in music and/or arts administration. A high school diploma is required.

Expectations:
• Must be enthusiastic, take initiative and be willing to contribute ideas
• Must be highly organized and communicative, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and calmly
• Must be respectful of staff, students, parents, board members, volunteers and patrons
• Must be able to work in a team environment and individually, and support the philosophies and standards of MYS

Start date: September 2008
Hours per week: 5-10
Duration: 8 months
Type of position: Unpaid internship

Position: MYS Development and Marketing intern

Description: The Minnesota Youth Symphonies is seeking an intern to assist the Director of Development and Marketing during the 2008-09 concert season. Development responsibilities include: processing annual appeal mailings, grant writing, researching potential funders and donors and assistance at fundraising events. Marketing responsibilities include: researching advertisement and outreach opportunities, assisting with concert promotion and distribution of marketing materials, and media contact management.

MYS will provide documentation of intern performance for class credit, if applicable. Applicants should have an interest in music and/or arts administration. A high school diploma is required.
