Music & Melody Makers
The MYS Music & Melody Makers program provides a hands-on introduction to all the instruments of the orchestra. This fun program gives young children a taste of which instrument they might like to play. Participants are three to fourteen years old and are from early childhood family education programs, home schools, scout groups and Boys & Girls Clubs. This season’s Music & Melody Makers events are scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2009 and Saturday, March 21, 2009.

Children’s Concert Club
Music & Melody Makers participants and other youth groups may attend MYS concerts through the Children’s Concert Club. Affordable tickets ($3 per person) enable children from all backgrounds to hear music performed by other children, hopefully igniting a lifelong interest in music.

String Studio
The MYS String Studio provides violin and viola lessons, and the use of instruments, to third and fourth graders at the Hans Christian Andersen Schools in Minneapolis’ Phillips neighborhood. String Studio students have opportunities to attend MYS rehearsals and concerts and, beginning this year, will receive individual lessons on their instruments.
